The person behind the fixes
Hi, I’m Scott.
DIYer for 20+ years. Home repairs, auto work,
plumbing, electrical — I’ve tackled it all
before writing a word on this site.

“With the right tools, you can fix anything.” — My Grandfather
I’ve always been the kind of person who figures it out myself first — before calling anyone,
before paying anyone, before giving up. Over 20 years that mindset has taken me from swapping
outlet switches and brake pads, to rerouting plumbing and rewiring fixtures.
Every recommendation on this site comes from someone who has actually done the work.
Not read about it — done it.
My Hands-On Experience
These aren’t categories I researched from a desk. They’re areas I’ve worked in for years — where I’ve made mistakes, found the right fixes, and learned what actually holds up in the real world.
Home Repair & Projects
Drywall, flooring, painting, fixture installation, deck work, door and window repairs —
20+ years of maintaining and improving homes from the inside out.

Tools & DIY Techniques
I’ve learned which tools are worth buying, which are gimmicks, and which ones save you
a contractor call. Every tool recommendation is based on actual use, not spec sheets.

The Story Behind This Will Fix It
1
Where it started
Learning from my grandfather
My grandfather could fix anything with a small, battered toolbox. Leaky pipes,
wobbly furniture, a radio that had given up — it didn’t matter. He’d work through it
calmly, whistling, and make it look effortless. His philosophy was simple:
“With the right tools, you can fix anything.” That stuck with me more than
anything else.
2
Building the habit
20+ years of figuring it out myself
I’ve always been the person who tries to fix it before calling someone. Over two
decades that’s meant changing my own oil and brakes, replacing outlets and light
switches, fixing faucets and supply lines, and tackling more home projects than I
can count. I’ve made mistakes along the way — and those mistakes taught me more
than any video ever could. When I recommend something on this site, it’s because
I know it works in practice.
3
Why I built this
The gap between “search” and “actually useful”
When I looked for practical fixes online, I kept finding one of two things: generic
product lists with no real context, or 45-minute videos to answer a five-minute
question. I wanted a place that cuts straight to it — here’s the problem, here’s the
fix that actually works, here’s why it works, and here’s where to get it.
That’s This Will Fix It.

Today
Real experience behind every recommendation
Every article, every product recommendation, and every tip on this site comes from
someone who has actually done the work — not just researched it. I test things,
use things, and sometimes throw things away when they don’t hold up.
If it’s on this site, I stand behind it.
How I Choose What to Recommend
I’m not running a lab. I’m running a real home, a real car, and a real life — and that’s where every recommendation on this site gets vetted.
01
Start with a real problem
Something that actually annoyed me, broke, or needed fixing — not a keyword target.
02
Research the fix
I look at what professionals use, what the DIY community trusts, and what’s actually available.
03
Apply my experience
20+ years of hands-on work tells me quickly whether a product or approach will hold up.
04
Give you the straight answer
No fluff, no padding. Problem → fix → why it works → where to get it.
A straight answer on affiliate links:
Some links on this site are Amazon affiliate links — if you buy something, I earn a small
commission at no extra cost to you. That income helps keep the site running. But it doesn’t
change my recommendations. I’ve been fixing things myself for 20 years specifically so I
don’t have to rely on someone else’s word for it. I’m not going to start now.
